🌳 What is Forest School Training?
Forest School is a transformative approach to education, giving participants a chance to be their whole selves, and learn holistically. As a forest school leader you support learners to build confidence, resilience, and a deep connection to nature. This SCQF-accredited training offers modular courses allow you to start at Level 5 and progress through Levels 6 and 8, or you can qualify straight to level 8 to lead groups straight away.
📍 Where and When?
Starting 7th January 2026, we are running a blended online and woodland-based training which combines virtual learning sessions with hands-on woodland days. The venue in Glasgow will be confirmed soon, and is likely to be in Cathkin Braes following two successful years of running cohorts in this wonderful setting.

Run by experienced professionals:
Karen Yearsley - Learn Wild – Ecologist, country side ranger and forest school tutor with over 12 years of experience in delivering courses and running a successful programme in her local primary school.
Sophie Kyle – Glasgow Forest School - Former magazine publisher turned Forest School leader and trainer, dedicated to nurturing a love of the natural world to Glasgow’s green spaces.
🔥 Training in All Weather
We know Scottish winters can be chilly, so we’ve got you covered! Expect:
A Tipi with a wood-burning stove to keep warm
Plenty of hot water for drinks
A portable toilet system
Bring your own camping chair

This training is modular, meaning you can choose the level that suits your goals: ✔ Level 5 – Introduction to Forest School leadership ✔ Level 6 – Assistant Forest School Leader ✔ Level 8 – Full Forest School Leader
Each level includes:

📖 Workbooks, observation sessions, and real-world application
🎓 Step-up options available if you wish to advance during or after your training
