What’s Forest School All About?
Forest School is a fantastic way for children to connect with nature while developing new skills, building friendships, and, most importantly—having a blast! These six-hour woodland play sessions encourage creativity, resilience, and teamwork, all set in the beautiful surroundings of Glasgow’s Pollok Country Park.
From swing-building to storytelling around the fire, there’s plenty to spark young imaginations. Activities include:
Exploring and discovering the magic of the woods
Building tree swings, climbing webs, hammocks, and dens
Learning to use hand tools for simple woodcraft projects
Creating toys and play objects from natural materials
Cooking a snack over the fire
Singing songs, sharing stories, and learning about Scottish wildlife
When & Where?
Each Forest School session takes place at Pollok Country Park’s dedicated forest school site. Kids can attend for three days, either solo or alongside their siblings or friends for extra fun!

What to Pack?
To make the most of their woodland adventures, kids should bring: ✅ Lunch & snacks ✅ Water or juice (500ml–1L) ✅ Waterproof jacket & trousers ✅ Wellies or sturdy waterproof shoes ✅ At least three layers under waterproofs (Scotland’s summer can be unpredictable!)
🎒 All packed in a light, easy-to-carry backpack. Expect plenty of mud and fun!

In the Easter holidays we visited the woodland circle camp in Pollok Country Park. We loved it for the green leafy shade from the strong April sunshine.
Whittling sticks was a major part of our Easter holiday sessions; we carved cat heads, mushrooms and points on hazel sticks.
Everyone helps carry each others stuff and helps drive the trolley.
